Congress leader and TV personality Navjot Singh Sidhu has been asked to leave his regular stint on The Kapil Sharma Show after his comments on the Pulwama attack led to dire criticism, according to a report in The Indian Express.

When asked about the attacks during a media interaction, this is what Navjot had to say.

“Nations cannot be held responsible for the dastardly acts of terrorists. The terrorists do not have deen, mazhab (sect and religion). There are good, the bad and the ugly. Every institution has them. Every nation has them. The ugly need to be punished. But individuals cannot be blamed for the dastardly act.”

His remarks prompted particularly severe backlash online, and the hashtag #BoycottKapilSharmaShow was trending on Friday 16 February. According to the report, Archana Puran Singh will be taking his place on the show.

According to a source, the channel and makers of The Kapil Sharma Show did not want to court unwanted controversy and decided to let Navjot go.

“His remarks have not been taken kindly by most. Also, the channel and the show was getting dragged into the unwanted controversy. This is when the team amicably decided that Navjot make a distance from the show. The team has already shot a couple of episodes with Archana,”
