Manisha Koirala, who is playing Sanjay Dutt's mother and late actor Nargis Dutt in Sanju, talks about how well she could relate to the character, as Nargis was suffering from cancer and Manisha is a cancer survivor herself. She said "I could feel her pain, her anguish."
When Rajkumar Hirani went to her with the script, Manisha was not convinced. She was not confident if she could do it as she was going through a health crisis herself. But today she is very happy that she played the role.
The actor was thrilled when we asked her about Ranbir Kapoor playing Sanjay Dutt in the biopic. She was full of praises for the actor. Manisha says, " I couldn't believe it was Ranbir Kapoor acting as Sanjay Dutt, I felt I was looking at Sanjay Dutt himself." She also agrees that he deserves all the praises and much more.
Manisha Koirala has worked with Sanjay Dutt in five films from Yalgaar (1992) to Mehbooba (2008) but she thinks nothing has changed about Dutt. He has grown up but is the same fun-loving Sanju.
The duo will be seen together once again in the remake of Prasthaanam, which was a super hit in the south. The film originally written and directed by Deva Katta will bring back Manisha Koirala and Dutt on the silver screen after a decade. In the remake, Manisha will be seen as the Dutt’s wife.
Manisha is enjoying experimenting at this phase of her career. We also saw her in Lust Stories in a very strong female character stuck in a dysfunctional marriage. When asked she proudly talks about how fulfilling such experimental films are.
