Karan Johar is currently at Davos in Switzerland, attending the ongoing World Economic Forum 2019. The filmmaker was a part of a panel discussion on the LGBTQ community there, and says he enjoyed being part of the panel very much and is himself keen to make a homosexual love story with two of India’s leading actors.
According to India Today, KJo also commented on how much the Sec 377 verdict means for the LGBTQ community.
I have attended three sessions till now at the [World Economic] Forum and one of them was on the topic of the LGBTQ community. I really loved that session... The judgment makes a huge difference to the LGBTQ community of the country. It is a feeling of validation. When your country doesn’t validate you, the feeling eats into you and I think the abolishment is the bravest move that has been made by the judiciary.”Karan Johar

Karan, whose short film Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh for Bombay Talkies did deal with same-sex love, is hoping to make a mainstream film on the topic soon.
“Being a leading filmmaker, I can make movies on the subject. I would love to make a homosexual love story and would want to cast two leading actors in the film. I don’t have in mind specific names of the actors I want to cast in the film, but I surely want to make such a film... I am ready to make a legit gay story, but I really hope the Indian audience is ready to accept it. I would want to start working on it right after I am done directing Takht, which is likely to hit the theatres in 2020.”
