Yesteryear actor Tanuja, mother to actors Kajol and Tanishaa, was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday 28 May, after complaining of abdominal pain. Now, hospital sources have told PTI that she will undergo surgery for a condition called diverticulitis.
Diverticulitis is a condition which results in the inflammation or infection of small pouches called diverticula that develop along the walls of the intestines.
Earlier, Kajol was spotted visiting the 75-year-old actor who is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Tanuja is the daughter of actor Shobhna Samarth and producer Kumarsen Samarth. She is the sister of late actor Nutan and aunt of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji. She is known for her appearance in Bollywood films such as Jewel Thief, Haathi Mere Saathi, Izzat, Prem Rog and Do Chore. She has also featured in Bengali titles such as Shonar Pahar, Andha Bichar and Anubhav.
Kajol recently lost her father-in-law Veeru Devgan, who passed away after a prolonged illness on 27 May at the age of 85. The action director had been keeping ill health and was admitted at Surya Hospital in Mumbai. He had choreographed fight sequences of many iconic films, including Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Hindustan Ki Kasam, Mr Natwarlal, Himmatwala, Kranti, Shahenshah, Tridev, and Phool Aur Kaante.
Several Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Bhatt, Sajid Khan, Harry Baweja, Rani Mukerji and Bobby and Sunny Deol, were present at his funeral. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was spotted consoling Kajol at Ajay Devgn’s residence in Juhu.
