Indian cinema’s biggest female superstar starred in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada films. The many prayer meets organised in her honour in the country are a reminder of her achievements and her range. Born in Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu, her debut film as a child artist was a Tamil one - Thunaivan.
The Tamil film industry paid a tribute to Sridevi on Sunday, 11 March. The late actor’s daughters Janhvi and Khushi attended the prayer meet in Chennai with their father, Boney Kapoor and Sridevi's close friend designer Manish Malhotra.
Composer AR Rahman and his family, filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj, Prabhudeva, Latha Rajinikanth, Meena, Radhika Sarthakumar, and Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Srikanth, Arun Vijay, director KS Ravikumar were also present at the prayer meet.
Earlier the likes of actor Ajith, filmmaker Priyadarshan and actress Meena paid a visit to Sridevi’s residence in Chennai to pay homage.
Actor-director Manobala shared an image of the members of South Indian Artistes' Association reminiscing and honouring Sridevi.
Sridevi, 54, died on 24 February in a Dubai hotel. Her ashes were immersed in the sea off Rameswaram and the river Ganges in Haridwar.
