Actor/filmmaker Nandita Das has filmed a new music video titled India’s Got Colour and featuring a plethora of Indian actors. The 2 minute clip highlights the diversity of skin tones in India and takes on the discrimination faced by those with darker skin.
Nandita, Radhika Apte, Ratna Pathak Shah, Suchitra Pillai, Swara Bhaskar, Shweta Tripathi, Sayani Gupta, Tillotama Shome, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Divya Dutta, Patralekha, Zoya Hussain are some of women lending their faces and voices to the message. Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey and Shahshank Arora are also spotted in the video.
The song which takes a humorous look at society beauty standards also includes rap performed by a group of Dharavi rappers.

Nandita shared the video on her Instagram, writing, “India's Got Colour. A fun music video that we made to celebrate the diversity of skin colour in India! After all, we are 1.3 billion people, and that many shades of skin tones!”
Earlier, she shared some stills from the video, captioning the post, “check out the 2min fun video this evening at 6.30pm and own the campaign. No more discrimination, time to celebrate diversity. As many people, that many skin tones.”
The video is co-produced by Mahesh Mathai with music by Ankur Tewari. Nandita has in the past support various and NGOs and campaigns in the fight against skin colour stigma.
