Ratna Pathak Reacts to Zomato ‘Non-Hindu’ Row

In a recent interview with The Quint for the fortieth anniversary of their theatre group Motley, actors Ratna Pathak Shah weighed on the recent furore on Twitter over a complaint made to Zomato. Amit Shukla from Madhya Pradesh put a tweet saying he cancelled his order with Zomato because he was assigned a delivery executive who was ‘non-Hindu’. The tweet was later removed but Zomato had replied to it saying:

“It’s amazing what has come out of it,” said Ratna. She added,

The man was shown his place and I like that. There is a lot of filth in all of us, and we should get it out, this kind of stuff should not be bottled up.

When asked if this is a scary time for art and artists given the current political scenario she said, “This is first time a generation is seeing what it’s like to be misruled. In our time there was still hope. And while these times will be hard for art they will also be great for art.”
