“Who’s the terrorist and who’s the victim?” asked actor Gauhar Khan, as she lashed out at the group of saffron-clad men seen beating up two Kashmiri fruit vendors in Lucknow, in a video that went viral on social media.
Stating that causing harm to innocent people constitutes as ‘terrorism’, Khan tagged the Uttar Pradesh police in her tweet, asking them if they had taken any action into arresting the perpetrators of the crime.
Taking a dig at the leading saffron party, she said:
“Every beard sporting man is not a terrorist! Hopefully the right minded Hindus will be appalled too by the misrepresentation of the saffron color!”Gauhar Khan
She also praised the man in the red jacket who is seen standing up for the Kashmiri vendor, and protecting him from being beaten by the attackers.
“We need more such examples in the country right now, to lead the way back to unity ! I’m still shocked with what’s happening!” she said.
Two Kashmiri dry fruit sellers were assaulted in broad daylight in Lucknow by several saffron-clad men on Wednesday, 6 March.
The videos showing the two Kashmiris being abused, slapped and beaten had gone viral. In the video clips, when a passerby asks the assaulters why they were thrashing the two dry-fruit sellers, they say, “Because they are Kashmiris. They are the ones pelting stones in Kashmir.”
Out of the group of men attacking the vendors, one was arrested by the police later in the day. The man, identified as Bajrang Sonkar, has 12 criminal cases, including a murder case against him.
