Several Bollywood celebs, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Madhuri Dixit, shared selfies of their inked fingers on social media after casting their votes in Mumbai during the fourth phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on 29 April.
Several Twitter users were quick to note that there seems to be silence from Akshay Kumar, who just a few days earlier had conducted a “completely non-political” interview with Prime Minister Modi. There has been controversy over Akshay citizenship with many claiming that the actor holds a Canadian citizenship and therefore cannot cast his vote in India.
Akshay, however, appears to have debunked the claim. In an interview with Times Now in 2017, he can be heard saying that he is an honorary citizen of Canada.
If so, how come Akshay hasn’t been spotted casting his vote, asked Twitter.
Is he as non-political as his Modi interview, asked one user.
A few claimed that it would be an opportunity for Akshay to clear the air around his citizenship. One user pointed out that Deepika Padukone posted a post-voting selfie and put to rest rumours of her being a Danish citizen.
But seriously, where is Akshay? Twitter. Wants. To. Know.
