Pebbles and paper balls were pelted at singer Shaan during a concert in Guwahati's Sarusajai stadium on 29 October after he sang a Bengali song, according to news agency ANI.
“Please respect the performer,” Shaan told the crowd. He later also took to Twitter to say that his outburst was not directed at any individual but against regionalism.
He also emphasised that he loved the Assam tour and made new friends. “Stay united,” says the singer.
The singer has tweeted again to say that only one person had thrown a folded paper ticket at him “after vigorously gesturing and shouting to stop singing”.
