Bollywood’s silence around many burning issues is almost deafening. But the barbarism of the alleged abduction, brutal gang-rape and killing of an 8-year-old Bakheral girl in Kathua - a political ploy aimed at ousting the nomadic community from the area in Jamm and Kashmir - has roused B-towners and other celebs.
While the usual articulate voices from the industry expressed their opinions on Twitter, some others also spoke up and pointed out the deplorable law and order situation in the country. They also invoked the Unnao rape case, where a four-time lawmaker and his siblings allegedly gang-raped a girl and are also the accused in her father’s custodial death.
“These men fast on Navratras and pray to Devi Ma, yet they defend a man who plotted the rape, torture and murder of a child inside a temple. Look at them, Shame them. If a stray news report can make credible people. Hindu haters why are these fake Hindus not unemployed.”Richa Chadha
“Gut wrenching. Unimaginable depravity that is disturbing on so many levels. Our response will decide what we have become as a society.”Rahul Bose
“I can’t breathe after reading this. I need to share it. And so do you. Please do justice . Dear politicians, I’d like to see every one of you miserable scum and your army of slimy sycophants put your parties and your bullshit aside and do something to make sure that no child ever has to face what this girl did. But you won’t. Because you don’t deserve this country.”Vir Das
Calling out the hypocrisy by the parties involved in the case, Journalist and Author Rahul Pandita said in a tweet:
“Now the thugs in black coats are invoking Ram’s name to prevent @JmuKmrPolice from filing challan in 8-year-old rape case in Kathua, Jammu. These people are the biggest enemies of Hinduism.”Rahul Pandita
