While the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is setting the box office blaze, fans are already awaiting news on the sequel to the ‘sci fi social’ as the director, Shankar calls it. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, he opened up about how the film was initially conceptualised with Aamir Khan as the protagonist and Arnold Schwarzenegger as the villain. He went on to speak about 3.0 .
“We definitely plan to make 3.0 but I can’t think of this franchise without Rajini Sir. He’s (Rajinikanth) the only name that comes to my mind when I think of Chitti,” says Shankar.
Rajinikanth is now set to steer his efforts towards his political career.
Shankar elaborated on how he is rooting for superhero franchises like Superman, Spider-Man and Batman in the Indian film industry. While talking about what’s next in line, he opened up about signing up Kamal Hassan for Indian 2, which will go on floors in December.
