Legendary comic book writer, editor and publisher at Marvel Comics, Stan Lee has passed away at the age of 95. According to reports, he breathed his last at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Born Stanley Martin Lieber, Stan Lee is often credited for creating the modern comic book. He revived the industry in the 1960s and through characters like the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Spiderman and Iron Man introduced generations of fans to flawed superheros that they could identify with. Many of these went on to feature in blockbuster films.
Lee’s death is being mourned by numerous fans around the world, including those in Bollywood who took to social media to express their grief.
Sonam Kapoor posted a picture of herself with Stan Lee on Instagram with a succinct caption that read: Nuff said. STANLEE (sic).
“Thank you for creating superheroes who believed in goodness. Rest in peace Stan Lee,” wrote Anupam Kher.
Randeep Hooda tweeted a quote by Lee on the value of being a comic book writer.
Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Kapur are among the other Bollywood celebrities who have expressed their condolences over Stan Lee’s demise.
