Anupam Kher has just been appointed as the new chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and he is happy and humbled by the honour. In an interview with CNN-News18 and ANI, Kher expressed his intention to help the students and administration of the iconic institution achieve excellence, but refused to comment on controversial issues like privatisation.
Kher said that while studying there, he never imagined that he would head prestigious institutions like the National School of Drama and FTII.
I want to think what I can bring with my experience of 40 years in the movies. I have worked both in Indian and world cinema... FTII is an iconic institution. I was lucky to study there for 6 months when I went from NSD to FTII. I never imagined heading both the institutions.... Hard work pays... life mein kuch bhi ho sakta hai.Anupam Kher, FTII Chairman
Kher however refused to comment on issues like privatisation of the institution. He insisted he has no idea on how to approach it and is currently content to celebrate the appointment.
