A day after actor Priyanka Chopra was seen responding to a disgruntled Pakistani fan in a viral video, the fan, Ayesha Malik, has come out on Twitter explaining her side of the story.
Saying that ‘it was hard listening to what Priyanka said’, Ayesha tweeted, “Hi, I’m the girl that “yelled” at Priyanka Chopra. It was hard listening to her say, “we should be neighbors and love each other” — swing that advice over to your PM. Both India and Pakistan were in danger. And instead she tweeted out in favor for nuclear war.”
In another tweet, she accused Priyanka Chopra of gas-lighting and wrote, “It took me back to when I couldn’t reach my family because of the blackouts and how scared/helpless I was. She gaslit me and turned the narrative around on me being the “bad guy” — as a UN ambassador this was so irresponsible.” Ayesha also posted videos of the entire conversation
The incident took place at Beautycon in Los Angeles where Priyanka was part of a panel on Saturday, 10 August. Beautycon is a hugely popular fashion, beauty and lifestyle event.
In the video, an upset Ayesha is heard saying, “You’re a UNICEF ambassador for peace and you’re encouraging nuclear war. There is no winner in this. As a Pakistani, millions of people like me have supported you and your business.” The question was apparently regarding a tweet of Priyanka’s where she supported the Indian Army.
Priyanka is visibly annoyed by the question, and asks the fan if she’s “done venting” before going into her response.
“I have many friends from Pakistan, and I am from India. War is not something that I’m really fond of but I am patriotic. I’m sorry if I hurt sentiments to people who do love me and have loved me. But I think that all of us have a sort of middle ground that we that we all have to walk.”Priyanka Chopra
