Even at 76, Amitabh Bachchan’s spirit and enthusiasm is as lively as it was decades ago. Most recently, he broke into a gig on stage with rapper-singer Naezy the Baa. Both Amitabh Bachchan and Naezy were at the Banega Swasth India event. As Naezy was singing his anthem for the campaign, Amitabh surprised everyone by joining him.
Naezy even took to Instagram to share the moment. In the photos, Imtiaz Ali can be spotted filming the performance on his phone.
He wrote, “Full hard scene #banegaswasthindia #naezy @amitabhbachchan”

The Gully Boy team was quick to show up in the comments section of the photo. Siddhant Chaturvedi posted a fire emoji. Ranveer Singh commented “Amitabh Bachchan Bole” followed by the crown emoji.
In February 2019, Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt became a blockbuster hit. The film is loosely based on the lives of Indian rappers Divine and Naezy. Around the same time, during an interview, Amitabh Bachchan wholeheartedly praised Ranveer Singh’s performance in Gully Boy. Bachchan said that despite watching Gully Boy ten times, he was unable to copy Ranveer Singh and failed miserably at it. He even confessed this to the Gully Boy actor himself.
At a Filmfare press conference held on 12 March, Ranveer responded to this statement by Amitabh Bachchan. The former got nostalgic and spoke about his grandmother. As a child, when Ranveer Singh would sit glued to the television, his grandmother would fondly tell him that one day when he grows up he must become like Amitabh Bachchan. Singh then bestowed the title of ‘GOAT’ on Bachchan. GOAT is a millennial slang which stands for ‘Greatest of all time’.
Gully Boy is India’s official entry for the Oscars.
