Veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on 3 June. In honour of the occasion, Big B wrote a special blog post in which he revealed details about their wedding in 1973.
While it had been decided that the couple would marry, no formal plans had been made. But when they were to go on a vacation to London to celebrate the success of Amitabh’s 1973 film Zanjeer, the actor’s father insisted that they should travel only as a married couple. So, a pandit was hired and Amitabh and Jaya were wed just before their flight.
Big B went on to describe his rather low-key wedding day. Rather than leading a baarat on a horse, Amitabh was driven to Malabar Hill where the ceremony was scheduled to take place. It even began to drizzle as he set off.
“I dress up in formal marriage Indian... get into my car and want to drive to Malabar Hill where her friends lived and where the ceremony was to be done . My driver Nagesh, pushes me out and insist he would drive me to the wedding... the substitute for the tradition horse,” he wrote.
“Waiting all set at Mangal, the name of the house on rent on the 7th road JVPD Scheme... and it begins to drizzle... neighbours rush out to me... leave for the wedding now... the rain is a good omen... off I went... Wedding over in a few hours .. done .. Mr and Mrs proclaimed .. over !!” he added.

Abhishek Bachchan also took to social media to wish his parents. “Happy Anniversary to the parentals! Love you both eternally. #46andcounting” he captioned it.
