At the song launch of Ae Watan, a song from Raazi, Alia Bhatt was asked her opinion about the gruesome gang rape of an 8-year old girl in Kathua. The actor feels strongly about the incident and asked the public to condemn it.
“All over the country the people are angry. It is disgraceful, shameful, as a girl, a human, a resident and a human being I feel shameful. I was reading about it but it really puts me off. We should condemn this.”Alia Bhatt, Actor
The actor also sung a few bars from the song Ae Watan. Tune in here:
Alia Bhatt put herself through vigorous training for Raazi. In the film’s trailer, the actor can be seen on combat mode and using the Morse code.
“I did a lot of training. I learnt codes, and I am glad. I didn’t want to but my AD asked me to. I learnt Jonga which is a truck; I would drive it every morning under in the Dharma production compound. Meghna wanted me to learn Urdu. I watched old films as well like Kabhi Kabhi and Silsila.”Alia Bhatt, Actor
Alia even commented on working with her mother, actor Soni Razdan, in the film.
I was nervous for my mom. I was stressed about her but then I realised she has worked way more than I have. Mom came in the last phase and it was like a holiday. She was chilled like me and I realised as an actor I am like her.
Vicky Kaushal, who plays a Pakistani military officer in the film, commented about Meghna Gulzar’s unconventional direction.
“Meghna used to sit with every actor and used to teach us, tell us how every line would be said. She gave every detail.”Vicky Kaushal, Actor
Due to the controversial nature of the film, it is yet to be determined if the film will be released in Pakistan or not. Meghna Gulzar commented:
I leave it to the producers to release it in Pakistan.Meghna Gulzar, Filmmaker
