Kesari actor Akshay Kumar, revealed why his film Waqt: A Race Against Time (2005), which starred Amitabh Bachchan, will always have an emotional impact on him.
Appearing at a recent chat show, Kumar reportedly claimed that just like his on-screen father, Bachchan, who played the character ‘Ishwarchand Thakur’, was fighting cancer in the movie, his own father Hari Om Bhatia was also battling with the same disease during the same time, The Times of India quoted him as saying.
“That time even my father had cancer. And in the film, Mr Bachchan’s character also had cancer. If you see those scenes, they are real. It was a very hard film for me emotionally. There were so many times when the scene was over but I couldn’t stop my emotions. Which is why this film will always be in my memory,” he said.
The film, which also starred Priyanka Chopra in a leading role, collected Rs 23 crore at the box office and was directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar is prepping for the release of his upcoming movie Kesari, which is based on the Battle of Saragarhi (1897). The film will also star Parineeti Chopra.
