Before the spy thriller, Vishwaroopam released in Tamil Nadu in February, 2013 it went through a tumultuous journey. It was banned in Tamil Nadu following protests staged by Muslim outfits. The sequel, Vishwaroopam 2 suffered many delays but it is now set to release on 10 August.
It may not come as any surprise that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has issued additional cuts to the the Hindi version of Kamal Haasan starrer, Vishwaroop 2. Of the 14 cuts commissioned, most of which consist of “violent” scenes in the film, a lip-lock scene on a bed in a song after intermission has been replaced with visuals of “hero and heroine looking towards each other”. Will the 90s staple of two flowers touching be making comeback?
Words like “IFS” and “foreign service” have also been cut in the film.
Take a look at some of the other cuts:
- Reduced to flash the scene of killing of Ashmita. Also modified as discussed the scene of Ashmita 's mutilated body parts in car, and completely removed the second scene of it.
- Removed the scene of Omar vomiting out blood.
- Muted the mention of specific location in Delhi.
- Beginning Inserted fiction disclaimer with Hindi voice-over.
- Muted the word 'IFS ' and 'foreign service’.
- Reduced to flash, the scene of Nirupama taking shower. Also removed the lip-lock scene on bed in song after intermission and replaced with visual of hero and heroine looking towards each other.
- Muted Nirupama 's dialogue : jaise aap logo mein allowed hai
- Reduced the visual of tearing of burkha by Ashmita
The Tamil version, Vishwaroopam 2 is subjected to 22 cuts, including muting words like “Allah”, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, “Pakistan”, and “South Block”. The visuals of the bedroom scene have been trimmed here too.

- Trimmed the shot of 111 where knife is hit on the terrorist 's neck and shot of 118 where knife is hitting on the eyes of the terrorist. (Reel 8) (violence)
- Muted the word 'Bharat mata '. (Shot 229) (Reel 8) (anti-national)
- Muted the word 'Allah '. (Shot 212) (Reel 8) (Religious)
