Responding to the escalated controversy around the PM Modi biopic which is set to release on 5 April, Vivek Oberoi on Wednesday, accused the opposition of “overreacting” and being “scared”. Vivek Oberoi will be playing the character of Narendra Modi in the film.

“I don't understand why some people are overreacting like this. Why are such senior and famous lawyers like Abhishek Singhvi ji and Kapil Sibal ji wasting time on filing a PIL on such a modest film? Don't know if they are scared of the film or of Chowkidar's 'danda'.”, he told ANI.

Vivek Oberoi referred to the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidaar’ campaign started by the BJP government.

Recently, the film was accused of violating the Model Code of Conduct and the Election Commission was brought in. EC eventually said that it has no objection with the release of the film. However, it did ask the Censor Board to take the final call.
