Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh might have crossed over Rs 250 crore at the Indian box-office so far but the original ‘Kabir Singh’ - Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda is in no mood to watch the remake of his film. Kabir Singh is a remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy, which stars Vijay Deverakonda in the lead.

Recently at a press conference in Bengaluru for his new film Dear Comrade, Vijay Deverakonda was asked if he had watched the Hindi version of Arjun Reddy. According to a report in Cinema Express, Deverakonda said that he is not interested in watching the Bollywood version of his film. "Shahid has done that film, and he has gone through the character, and there is nothing for me to watch it again. I know the story, I have done that film, why will I watch again?” said the actor.

Apparently, the director of Arjun Reddy and its Hindi remake Kabir Singh, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has been trying to get Deverakonda to watch the film starring Shahid Kapoor, which has become a monstrous hit. “Kya Picture, kya dekhenge. I wanted the Hindi film to be a big hit, because Sandeep is my man. But unexpectedly, it became a blockbuster. Done. No more discussion there," Deverkonda said.

Kabir Singh has come under a lot of criticism for its glorification of toxic masculinity, which has evidently bothered the film’s writer and director Sandeep Vanga. In an interview with film journalist and critic Anupama Chopra, Vanga defended his film and accused the critics of Kabir Singh as pseudos and clueless.

When asked about the criticism that Kabir Singh faced, Sandeep replied that when you question people’s belief systems, they get angry. “I feel all the criticism the film faced is pseudo. When you are deeply in love there is honesty in the relationship. If you don’t have the liberty of slapping each other, I don’t see anything in that relation.”
