Vicky Kaushal kicked off the second schedule of Sardar Udham Singh on an auspicious note with a visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The Shoojit Sircar directorial is based on the life of revolutionary Udham Singh who assassinated Michael Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, in 1940 in retaliation for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919.
The makers of the film had earlier shared the first picture of Vicky Kaushal in character. The actor is seen on a set mimicking the streets of London sporting a clean-shaven look, a suit and a long overcoat.
Irrfan Khan was originally supposed to star in Sardar Udham Singh but turned it down because of ill health. In an interview with a daily, Shoojit Sircar spoke about the process of working on the production of the film. He admitted that it was very difficult execute the period setting as there are very few records, and a lot of which is speculative. The film will be shot across London, Russia, Germany, Ireland and India.
Sardar Udham Singh is scheduled to release in 2020. It is written by Ritesh Shah and Shubendu Bhttacharya. It will be produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar, a Rising Sun Films Production. Vicky Kaushal will also be seen in horror comedy Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship and Karan Johar’s Takht.
