The upcoming Bollywood comedy Ujda Chaman has been accused of copying jokes from a stand-up comedian’s performance.

The trailer for the film, which stars Sunny Singh as a 30 year-old man suffering from premature balding, was released on Tuesday 1 October. On Wednesday, comedian Vinay Sharma posted a video which compares lines from the trailer to jokes from Vinay’s stand-up act, which also deals with balding. There appear to be quite a few similarities between the two.

Take a look at the video.

Vinay wrote alongside the video, “Been getting messages since yesterday. The writers of Ujda Chaman have simply lifted two of my jokes without permission or credits. They consider these jokes worthy enough to be in the movie's TRAILER. I wonder what precedence it sets for Bollywood. This is just disappointing and sad.”

The Quint reached out to Vinay later on Wednesday and the comedian had gotten a clarification the writer of the film. Vinay now believes it may simply be a case of two people thinking alike and has decided not to pursue the case any further.
