As mentioned in a tweet by Taran Adarsh, Total Dhamaal has now crossed 100 crore at the box office. This makes it Ajay Devgn’s ninth 100 crore film, and marks Madhuri Dixit’s entry into the coveted club.

Despite competition from Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit starrer Total Dhamaal earned a tidy sum at the box office, collecting Rs 62.40 crore on its opening weekend.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film is Ajay Devgn’s biggest non-holiday release.

Directed by Indra Kumar, the film is the third instalment of the successful Dhamaal franchise and sees original cast members Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh and Javed Jaffrey joined by Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Mishra and Boman Irani. The story follows two conmen who get double-crossed by their own associate who steals their illegal booty. They come across a motley crew of characters whom they must contend with to get their treasure hidden in a zoo.

Total Dhamaal has received lukewarm reviews from critics since releasing on 22 February. The Quint’s Stutee Ghosh writes, “The first half conjures up many improbable scenes that are supposed to be funny. Finally, en route to the zoo for the promised bounty, the post-interval story follows the predictable trajectory in the most lumbering fashion.”
