The first trailer for notoriously controversial filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s latest The Tashkent Files has been released. The film aims to uncover the truth behind former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s mysterious death. Lal Bahadur Shastri was a prominent freedom fighter and the second ever Prime Minister of independent India. Take a look.

The Tashkent Files stars veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah, Mithun Chakraborty, Pankaj Tripathi, Pallavi Joshi and Shweta Basu. Written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri, produced by Pranay Chokshi, Haresh Patel, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek, the movie is slated to release on 12 April in the midst of the Lok Sabha elections.

Vivek Agnihotri has said only an "idiot or a guilty person" can call the movie a propaganda and that it is about a "citizen's right to truth".
