Bollywood actors Swara Bhasker and Divya Dutta, who are known for playing bold and unconventional roles in Hindi films, are all set to star in an upcoming film that deals LGBTQ+ themes. According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, both the actors will be playing lesbian characters in the upcoming Faraz Arif directorial Sheer Qorma. Faraz Arif is known for his short films like Sisak.
Actor Divya Dutta, who is known for films like ‘Manto’, also spoke about how comfortable she is being a part of the film.
“When I started writing the film, I had Divya in my mind, and already saw her playing this role. The day I finished the script, I put up a status on Instagram saying I need someone to play the role, and Divya was actually the first person to call me. Without even reading the film, she said she wanted to do the film,” said Faraz to Mumbai Mirror.
Divya took up the role so that she could challenge the actor within her.
Actor Divya Dutta, who is known for films like Manto, also spoke about how comfortable she is being a part of the film. She said, “For me, this is not just a film. It’s a story about relationships - including this woman’s with her family and her partner, which is something that needs to be talked about amid all the taboo that exists in our society.”
Divya Dutta also spoke about how comfortable she was working with Faraz Arif. Moreover, Divya took up the role so that she could challenge the actor within her. She is also excited to work with all the women on the team.
Sheer Qorma will also star television actor Surekha Sikri.
