Yash Raj Films' Sui Dhaaga - Made in India pairs up Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma for the first time on screen. The film is written and directed by Sharat Katariya and produced by Maneesh Sharma.
Sui Dhaaga opened to a slow but steady start, thanks to Asia Cup Finals, raking in Rs 8.30 crore on day 1. But the film saw huge footfalls on day 2, earning a total of Rs 20.55 crore.
The film crossed the Rs 50 cr mark as it benefitted from the 2 October holiday.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, business was expected to grow over the weekend and on Gandhi Jayanti, which is a holiday and the collections predictably mounted.
The film revolves around small-town entrepreneurship with Varun Dhawan playing a tailor, Mauji, and Anushka Sharma as his wife, Mamta.
