Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja celebrated their first wedding anniversary on 8 May. The couple got married in a big fat Punjabi wedding last year, which saw the who’s who of Bollywood let their hair down and was hella relatable!
I don’t know about you guys but for me, watching Sonam dancing with her chooda covered in kerchiefs during her mehendi ceremony brought back a flood of memories.
At that ‘Insta’ moment, Sonam Kapoor was the most relatable celeb bride I’d seen. She wasn’t the girl from Aisha or Veere Di Wedding, but she was the real Sonam Kapoor.
All those who’ve walked down the aisle will be familiar with the unspoken, notorious rule that governs all shaadis – Weddings are a time when everyone enjoys except the bride and groom. Sonam, however, called out this bullsh*t loud and clear on her wedding day. She was the most chilled out bride, enjoying her wedding to the fullest.
So dear ladies, be like Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, don’t sweat over the small stuff and just enjoy your wedding!
Be Like Sonam
Be like Sonam and show your pearly whites throughout the wedding…
Some more...
Ek baar aur, pliss.
’Cuz why not, it’s your damn wedding.
Excited Main Ainda
With all the shaadi ceremonies done and formalities over, it was time for Sonam to hit social media and tell the world (like they didn’t already know it) that she’s married.
The newly married girl quickly added her husband’s moniker to her name on all her social media accounts.
One Two ka Four!
Yet another universally acknowledged truth about one’s shaadi? It can be quite tiring, especially if you’re the bride. But for Sonam, it was a cakewalk! The woman changed not one, not two, not three, but FOUR outfits in ONE day – in less than 24 hours. It was her day, her moment and she totally took control of it like a badass bride!
From “Babu Sorry” to “Mama, Help!”
Some loving family moments from Sonam’s wedding were priceless and made everyone go ‘aww’.
As she exchanged the varmalas with her new husband, she fondly called him ‘Babu’.
Later, she affectionately reached out with a piece of cake to dad Anil Kapoor, urging “Papa” to take “thoda sa” with a smile.
SO relatable!
Anand was urged by the excited Sonam to put only “thoda sa, haaan?” sindoor on her head, while “Mamma”’s help was plaintively sought when her kalire got entangled in Anand’s sherwani.
It just made us fall in love with Sonam even more.
Shoes For Thought
I gotta admit; even I would have never allowed my husband to wear sneakers to our reception. Shaadi hai, football match nahi! But Sonam didn’t give two hoots about it.
Jab miya, biwi aur jhoote razi toh kya karega fashion nazi!
