‘Simmba’ Beats ‘Chennai Express’, Becomes Biggest Rohit Shetty Hit

The film crossed Rs 200 crores at the box office in three weeks.

Ever since its premiere on 28 December, Simmba has had a roaring run at the box office. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Ranveer Singh-starrer has collected Rs 227.71 crore so far, surpassing the lifetime business of Chennai Express and making the film director Rohit Shetty’s highest grosser.

According to Adarsh’s figures, Chennai Express has earned a lifetime collection of Rs 227.13 crore.

Simmba has earned Rs 350 crore globally. Its performance at the box office remained steady in its third week despite having to contend with two new releases - Uri: The Surgical Strike and The Accidental Prime Minister.

Directed by Rohit Shetty, Simmba stars Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan and features cameos by Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar.
