After the massive success of Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor is preparing for his next film, Gowtam Tinnanauri’s Hindi remake of his Telugu sports drama Jersey. Now, according to a report by Mumbai Mirror, the film will mark a reunion for Shahid and his father Pankaj Kapur after four years. They were last seen together in Shaandaar.

A source told the publication that Pankaj Kapur will play mentor to Shahid’s character.

The 65-year-old actor said that he is excited to be a part of the film. “Jersey has a very strong storyline. It has always been a great experience working with Shahid as he can portray emotions beautifully,” Pankaj Kapur said.

Tinnanauri considers it an honour to work with Pankaj Kapur. “He is a great actor and we have all grown up watching his work. I am confident that he will fit the role of a mentor perfectly.”

Apart from Shahid and his dad, Mrunal Thakur will play the female lead in the movie. Mrunal’s character will be the anchor to Shahid’s, who embarks on an emotional journey to play cricket for the country in his mid 30s, when it’s time for most people to retire from competitive sports.
