Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently brought in his birthday with the announcement that he would be filming a love story with Salman Khan in the lead 19 years after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
Now rumour has it that he has approached both Salman and Shah Rukh Khan to star in the remake of 1952 Meena Kumari classic Baiju Bawra. While there has been no official word yet, the director has reportedly registered three titles - Baijnath, Baiju and Baiju Tansen - for the film.
It was also reported that Priyanka Chopra had been approached for the film but Salman has expressed apprehension with working with her after she backed out of Bharat.
Directed by Vijay Bhatt, the original film starred Meena Kumari and followed the fictional story of dhrupad musician Baiju who famously challenged Akbar’s legendary court musician Tansen to a musical duel to avenge his father’s death.
Salman will be seen with Katrina Kaif in Bharat, which is expected to release on 5 June. SRK was last seen in Anand L Rai’s Zero which failed to make a dent in the box office.
