Cricket and films are celebrated in India, and both have their steady fan bases. But we are yet to see which direction the wind will blow when Salman Khan’s Bharat will clash with India’s World Cup match with South Africa on 5 June.

However, the film’s director Ali Abbas Zafar seems to be unperturbed though he points out that the clash was unintentional since the schedule for the Cricket World Cup hadn’t been announced when they zeroed in on the release date for Bharat. “India will play and win the first match, and our film will enter cinemas. It’s a great time for entertainment in June,” he told Mumbai Mirror.

Ahead of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) final on 12 May, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif hosted the pre-match show Cricket Live. Salman Khan has also shot for a special trailer that aired during the IPL. “Since Salman Khan has done away with traditional promotion techniques, he has supervised this unique integration of the film in IPL. Since the T20 cricket league has reportedly registered 411 million viewers in its first four weeks, Salman hopes to get maximum views through this strategy,” a source told mid-day.

Producer Nikhil Namit added that since the decision to attach Bharat’s trailer with Avengers: Endgame worked wonders, they are hoping that this move will also be a hit.
