Simmba filmmaker Rohit Shetty has become the first director in the history of Bollywood to deliver eight consecutive Rs 100 crore-grossing hits at the Indian box office. His latest starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan has already made over Rs 124 crore in five days since its release. “Rohit holds the record for maximum films in ₹ 100 cr Club,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Shetty’s films are known for their mix of genres and widespread appeal which has lead to Karan Johar (who has produced Simmba) calling the filmmaker a ‘masala maverick’. Simmba is a spiritual successor to his popular Singham films starring Ajay Devgn also as a police officer.

Simmba has also turned to be Ranveer Singh’s biggest opening and biggest solo hit. Ranveer shared the milestone on his Instagram, saying, “All hail the blockbuster king! Ro-bro be slamming century after century.”
