The makers of upcoming Ranveer Singh-starrer 83 have announced that Punjabi actor Ammy Virk has been cast in the role of Balwinder Singh Sandhu, who played a pivotal role in the 1983 Cricket World Cup where he memorably clean bowled West Indies’ Gordon Greenidge. Virk is known for his appearances in films such as Qismat and Angrej.
Directed by Kabir Khan, 83 is based on India’s historic win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Ranveer Singh will play former Indian skipper Kapil Dev.
Balwinder Singh Sandhu is also one of the original members of the 1983 team who are training the cast of 83. Ranveer had earlier shared a picture of himself practicing at the sets with Balwinder.
