Rani Mukerji is all set to return as a fiery cop in Mardaani 2 five years later, after the huge success of Mardaani. Yash Raj Films released a date announcement teaser of the same, where Rani is seen reprising her role as Shivani Shivaji Roy. “This Navratri, good will triumph over evil. Mark the date,” the makers wrote on Twitter while sharing the teaser. The film will be releasing on 13 December.
Take a look:
The teaser shows Rani entering a gated area along with her team of police officials, in what seems to be a surprise raid. Interestingly, the actor is donning a police uniform this time unlike in Mardaani, where she was seen in civil dress. The 38 second teaser ends with Rani brutally thrashing someone while she says, “Ab tu kissi ladki ko haath laga ke toh dikha... tujhe itna marungi, ki tere twaja se tere umra ka paata nahi chalega.”
The actor who will be playing the role of the antagonist hasn’t been revealed yet, but it is being said that a new face will be launched with the role. Tahir Raj Bhasin played the role of a child trafficker in Mardaani.
Earlier, YRF had shared the first look of her from the sets of the film.
She had earlier dropped hints about the negative character saying, “Shivani will face a cold, merciless villain who has no empathy, no fear of God and is pure evil. The character has been written superbly and I’m excited to find out who the actor will be.”
Mardaani 2 will mark the directorial debut of Gopi Puthran, who wrote the original script, and will be produced by Aditya Chopra.
