Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s iconic comedy Chupke Chupke, featuring Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore and Jaya Bachchan in lead roles, completed 44 years on 11 April. The film is all set for a remake and producers Bhushan Kumar and Luv Ranjan have collaborated for the project, Mumbai Mirror reported. And the best part is that Rajkummar Rao has reportedly been roped in to reprise Dharmendra’s role. In Chupke Chupke, Dharmendra played Parimal Tripathi, a professor of Botany, who disguised himself as a chauffeur Pyare Mohan to hoodwink his wife Sharmila’s brother-in-law while on their honeymoon.
“Chupke Chupke is one of Rajkummar Rao’s favourite films. He is very excited about the idea of remaking this iconic gem and has agreed to come on board. Rajkummar will play the dual roles of Dharmendra. The director and the rest of the cast have to be locked in,” a source told Mumbai Mirror.
This will be Bhushan Kumar’s second remake after Pati, Patni Aur Woh.
