Ajay Devgn has played his share of righteous characters fighting for justice. He’s back in familiar territory with his upcoming film Raid. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film is based on a true story and revolves around the longest raid conducted by the fearless Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Amay Patnaik, in 1981 Lucknow. “Heroes Don't Always Come In Uniform” is the film’s tagline.
That this is familiar territory for Devgn doesn’t make him less engaging. He combines swag with uprightness and pithy one-liners as the honest government official who can’t be intimidated and is determined to put an end to tax evasion.

The motif of Patnaik banging palatial doors is powerful and Saurabh Shukla as the principal bad man promises another stellar act. The film also stars Ileana D’Cruz as Devgn’s wife who worries but supports him.
Raj Kumar Gupta earlier directed Aamir and No One Killed Jessica, and that gives us enough hope for Raid. The film releases on 16 March.
