It’s turning out to be a lucky year for Bollywood producers and distributors. After the phenomenal success of Padmaavat, PadMan, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Baaghi 2, Raazi got a good opening at the box office. And now the film has entered the Rs 100 crore club. Here are the figures of the third week collections:
Friday - 2.25 cr
Saturday - 4.20 cr
Sunday - 4.42 cr
Total - 10.87 cr
Grand Total - 102.50 cr
The Alia Bhatt film raked in Rs 98.08 crore in its third week.
“While achieving the Rs 100 crore figure may not be a cause for celebration for Baahubali series, Tiger Zinda Hai or Padmaavat (since the costs are very high), it is indeed great news when films like Raazi and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety achieve such numbers,” says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The Meghna Gulzar film, which stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, witnessed over a 50 per cent growth on its first Saturday. On day 3, Raazi made Rs 32.94 crore.
The Alia Bhatt-starrer raked in Rs 7.53 crore on day 1 in India. Favourable reviews and word of mouth helped the film gain momentum at the box office.
Raazi, with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead, is a thriller set during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. The Meghna Gulzar film is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat and produced by Karan Johar and Junglee Pictures.
