Shonali Bose’s directorial venture The Sky is Pink is set to have a global premiere at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival on 13 September. The official Twitter handle of TIFF confirmed the news. The news was shared on the official website of the movie gala, which is scheduled to run through September 5 to 15.
Farhan Akhtar also shared the news on Instagram. “ Hearts filled with gratitude and joy! Proud to share the news of the world premiere of #TheSkyisPink at the TIFF on September 13. Releasing in cinemas on October 11!”, he wrote.
The film stars Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim in lead roles. The Sky is Pink is based on the true story of Aisha Chaudhary, who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and later became a motivational speaker. It is scheduled to hit the theatres on 11 October.
The Sky is Pink is meant to be Priyanka’s comeback to Bollywood films ever since she broke out in Hollywood with the TV show Quantico. Her last Indian role was Prakash Jha’s Jai Gangaajal back in 2016. Priyanka kicked off the the shoot for TSIP in August last year by sharing a picture with the entire team, including director Shonali Bose and producers Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala.
“I’m so excited and happy about today..Some stories just need to be told. In the spirit of Aisha Chaudhary and her incredible parents Aditi and Niren we bring you our tentatively titled super special project The Sky is pink. Going on floors today. God Speed.” she had written back then.
