The trailer for Sanjay Dutt-starrer Prassthanam released on 29 August. The film is a remake of the Telugu film. It is directed by Deva Katta and stars Sanjay Dutt, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, Chunky Panday, Ali Fazal, Satyajeet Dubey & Amyra Dastur.

The trailer begins with a child having a conversation about the nature of violence. The child’s words set precedent for the rest of the trailer which gives an insight into what goes on inside a political family. With Sanjay Dutt as the family alpha and his two sons pitted against each other, the family’s legacy is a question of honour, respect and love. But similar to the discord brewing inside, external threats too put the family’s legacy at stake. Prassthanam explores the themes of love, loss, betrayal, family, politics, revenge and more.

Earlier Sanjay Dutt had shared the first look of the film. Showing Dutt in dhoti kurta from the back against a rising sun in a dusty, the poster comes with the punchline, “Haq doge toh Ramayam shuru hogi, chhinoge toh Mahabharat” in Dutt’s voice-over.

The trailer was launched in Delhi on Thursday.

“We thought of launching the trailer in Delhi because there is a lot of josh and it’s (the film) a political drama.”
Sanjay Dutt told IANS

Recently, rumours of Sanjay Dutt joining politics had started doing the rounds. However, the actor refuted them. When IANS asked if he would ever consider giving politics a second chance, Sanjay, who was fielded by Samajwadi Party as a Lok Sabha candidate from Lucknow in 2009, said: "I love the people of Delhi, food and culture. That's why we came here. I will never join politics. I have a lot of friends, though."
