In 1994, Prabhudeva’s iconic moves in ‘Mukkala Muqabala’, from the Tamil film Kadhalan turned him into a pop culture icon. Now the AR Rahman tune will be remixed by composer Tanisk Bagchi for Remo D’Souza upcoming dance film Street Dancer 3D. Bagchi is known for giving a modern twist to several Bollywood classics such as ‘Humma Humma’, ‘Raat Baaki Baat Baaki’ and ‘Hawa Hawai’.
The song sequence will feature a minute-long solo performance by Prabhudeva, reports Mumbai Mirror. The publication quoted producer Bhushan Kumar as saying, “There’s a situation in the film where we see Prabhudeva showcase his dance moves and I knew we needed to bring ‘Muqabala’ back. The audience will be blown away by the choreography and will love the new version as much as the original.”
Varun Dhawan, the film’s lead, also hinted at the remix in an Instagram story and a cryptic tweet.
While we wait to see how the remix of ‘Mukkala Muqabala’ turns out, here’s a look at the original.
Street Dancer 3D reunites Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in their third dance film together. The film is directed by Remo D’Souza and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Lizelle D’Souza. It also stars Nora Fatehi, Sonam Bajwa and Shakti Mohan.
