Padmaavat is off to a fantastic start at the national as well as international box-office. The film raked in Rs 32 crore on its first Friday, despite limited screenings in some states initially. On Saturday too, Padmaavat earned a staggering Rs 27 crore, taking its total collection to Rs 83 crore. By Sunday, it earned Rs 114 crore. Now the film has raked in Rs 200 crore in India - quite unstoppable, isn’t it?
Padmaavat is Deepika Padukone’s seventh and Ranveer Singh’s third film to enter the Rs 100 crore club.
Business expectedly picked up over the long weekend.
According to Adarsh, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has already taken a “fantabulous start” in the international markets of Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
Padmaavat set an all-time record in US, Canada on the opening day with a business of about $ 1.20 mn.
As per reports, many theatres in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have refused to screen Padmaavat, which would also impact its collections.
However, Komal Nahta seems optimistic, according to him the figures of Padmaavat may have already surpassed that of Baahubali and Dangal.
According to Box Office India, Paadmavat has recorded the 14th highest weekend of all time.
