‘Mission Mangal’ BO Gets a Boost on Janmashtami, touches 135 Cr

The film witnessed great numbers on it’s second Friday.

Mission Mangal continues to take the box office by storm as it collected 7.83 cr on it’s second Friday. The film is expected to rake in higher numbers over the weekend thanks to the Janmashtami festivities. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the same.

The film crossed the hundred crore mark in it’s first week and has been unstoppable since.

The film recounting India’s successful launch of the Mars Orbiter Mission, hit the theatres on 15 August. It stars Vidya Balan, Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen. The movie seems to have gone down very well with the audience.

After earning Rs 29.16 crores on Day 1, the film was unstoppable during the weekend. It collected Rs 17.38 crores on Friday, 23.58 crores on Saturday and 27.54 crores on Sunday.

The film has also become Akshay Kumar’s highest opener till date, surpassing the Day 1 collection of his last Independence Day release, Gold.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce this.

He also gave an insight into the opening day collections of some of the other Akshay-starrer films.
