Meghna Gulzar commemorated the wrap of the shoot of her upcoming film Chhapaak by taking to social media to thank her lead actors Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey for the effort they have put into their roles.
She tweeted emotional photos of herself with the actors in character writing “Matli... Amol... I will carry you with me. Thank you for your faith and for pouring yourself into our film!”
Chhapaak is based on the real-life story of Laxmi Aggarwal, who survived an acid attack in 2005 at the age of 15. Part of the film will reportedly explore the PIL that was subsequently filed in the Supreme Court in 2006 and which lead to the amendment of laws regarding acid attacks in 2013. Deepika plays a character named Malti in the film and Vikrant Massey’s role is modelled on that of Laxmi’s partner, social activist Alok Dixit.
Deepika had earlier shared a photo with the cast and crew of the film calling it the “most precious film of my career”. Ranveer Singh too commented on her post saying that he “can’t wait to witness the magic”.
Chhapaak has been directed by Meghna Gulzar and backed by Fox Star Studios. It releases in theatres on 10 January 2020.
