This Diwali saw three releases clashing at the box office and audiences got a range of films to choose from. There was Akshay Kumar’s big multi-starrer sequel Housefull 4 along with smaller films like the Rajkummar Rao quirky comedy Made in China and Taapsee Pannu-Bhumi Pednekar’s true-life drama Saand ki Aankh.
Made in China saw an increase in footfalls during the extended Diwali weekend, especially on Monday. According to the producers, the first three days of the weekend brought in a collection of Rs 3.85 crore, while Monday alone saw a massive increase of Rs 3 crore bringing the total gross up to Rs 6.85 crore. Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios and directed by Mikhil Musale, the film also stars Mouni Roy, Boman Irani, Paresh Rawal and Gajraj Rao.
Meanwhile, the Anurag Kashyap-produced Saand Ki Aankh also saw an upward trend on Monday, collecting Rs 3.19 crore and bringing its total to Rs 5.66 crore.
