1. Alia to Play Mafia Queen in Bhansali’s Next ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’
Alia Bhatt has been confirmed as the lead in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Gangubai Kathiawadi. The film will be co-produced by Bhansali Productions and PEN India and is expected to release on 11 September, 2020.
In his book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, investigative journalist and writer Hussain Zaidi describes Gangubai Kathiawadi as one of the top madams of Mumbai’s red-light district Kamathipura.

2. ‘War’ Overtakes ‘Kabir Singh’, Becomes Highest BO Grosser of 2019
Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s latest action thriller War has had a roaring run at the box office since it hit theatres on 2 October. As of week two, the Hindi version of the film has earned Rs 268.30 crore. Taking into account the Tamil and Telugu versions as well, the total box office collections of the film are Rs 280.60 crore. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, War has thus surpassed the lifetime business of Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh (Rs 276.34 crore) to become the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2019. It has also crossed the lifetime business of Vicky Kaushal’s Uri.

3. Nawaz Uses ‘Alia Bhatt’ Mantra to Exorcise Akshay in ‘Bhoot Song’
The ‘Bhoot Song’, featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, from the multi-starrer comedy Housefull 4 is out and the actor seems to be having a great time donning the comic avatar of a tantrik (exorcist) named Ramsey Baba. Nawaz, who rarely dances on screen, seems to be enjoying shaking a leg, along with Akshay Kumar and the rest of the film’s cast. Nawazuddin will be seen a special appearance as a tantrik in Housefull 4. The song has been sung by Mika and Farhad Samji.

4. MAMI 2019 to Close With Taapsee & Bhumi-Starrer ‘Saand Ki Aankh’
Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer Saand Ki Aankh will be the closing film for this year’s Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI). Produced by Reliance Entertainment and Anurag Kashyap, the film is Tushar Hiranandani’s directorial debut.
Speaking about Saand Ki Aankh’s premiere at MAMI, Tushar says, “It’s a matter of pride for my team and me that my first directorial will be screened at MAMI’s closing ceremony. I’m hopeful that it will be loved by the audiences.”

5. Anup Jalota, Jasleen Matharu to Reunite in ‘Vo Meri Student Hai’
After their controversial appearance on Bigg Boss 12 last year, contestants Anup Jalota and Jasleen Matharu will reunite on the big screen in Vo Meri Student Hai and play the roles of a teacher and student, respectively. The film has been written and directed by Jasleen’s father, Kesar Matharu, and is set to release on Diwali.
