After the release of a recent Housefull 4 song, titled ‘EK Chumma’, there was some talk on the internet about how the song was deeply misogynistic and reduced its women to mere objects that seemed to have no real purpose in the plot of the film. Now, Kriti Sanon, who stars in Housefull 4, has opened up about the criticism.

She further compared ‘Ek Chumma’ to the song ‘Tareefan’ from ‘Veere Di Wedding’.

While talking to Mid-day, Sanon denied the accusation. She said that it was not regressive as the men in the song were saying those lines to their partner, and not a stranger. She further added that if ‘Ek Chumma’ was disrespectful to women, she would have spoken up.

She further compared ‘Ek Chumma’ to the song ‘Tareefan’ from Veere Di Wedding. She said that everyone had conveniently missed to point out that men had been objectified in the song the way women usually are.

Sanon then referred to a song from her own film, Luka Chuppi. She said that in the song ‘Coca Cola’, the women teases the man and vice versa. “How is it okay for a guy to be teased, but there's so much talk when a girl is being teased?” she asked.

Talking about the upcoming release, Sanon reminisced about how she had a lot of fun on the sets of Housefull 4. She even called it a party. Sanon also admitted that it was challenging to do work in a comedy film and she’s glad she was surrounded by such talented actors like Akshay Kumar who helped her throughout.
