Actor Kiara Advani, who played the leading lady in Kabir Singh alongside Shahid Kapoor, took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt thank you note to the entire team and the audience, as the film completed one month in theatres on the weekend.

“Every time I have tried to put down my feelings on Kabir Singh I don’t know where to begin, this attempt will not do justice either, to how truly grateful I am, to my team, and the audience for making our film what it has become today,” Kiara wrote in an Instagram post.

Kabir Singh is still running in theatres, and has turned out to be one the biggest blockbusters of 2019. The film has already made around Rs 271 crore at the domestic box office, surpassing all trade expectations. On the other hand, the film also came in for heavy criticism from a section of the audience and critics, for glorifying a misogynist and violent character in the form of its hero.

“A year ago I stepped into the shoes of Preeti, shy, demure, and basically the complete opposite of me. But I also saw her strength, conviction, her love and her passion and couldn’t help but feel for the love story that you all rooted for with me.”

Kiara also spoke about her demure character in the film. “A year ago I stepped into the shoes of Preeti, shy, demure, and basically the complete opposite of me. But I also saw her strength, conviction, her love and her passion and couldn’t help but feel for the love story that you all rooted for with me,” she said.

The actor also thanked the producers, the music composers and singers, and her co-star Shahid for their contribution.

Co-star Shahid seemed quite impressed by Kiara’s well-written thank you note. “This award winning speech also deserves an award,” he commented on the post.
