‘Kesari’ First Look: Akshay Kumar Is Ready for Battle

The actor says it’s his most ambitious project yet.

Akshay Kumar has just started shooting for his next ambitious project, Kesari. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film revolves around the battle of Saragarhi. Akshay took to Twitter to share his Sikh look from the film, saying it’s his most ambitious film yet.

Co-produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Kesari was originally supposed to star Salman Khan as well. But that fell through when Khan backed out of the project last year.

The 1897 Battle of Saragarhi refers to the fierce clash of 21 Sikhs of the 36th regiment of the British army (now the 4th battalion of the Sikh regiment of the Indian Army) with over 10,000 Afghan tribesmen. The Sikhs held their ground.
